About CPEC
|
| |
|
|
The Chemical and Process Engineering Centre
(CPEC) first started in 1994 as the Process Analysis and Optimisation
Enterprise (PAOE). In November 1998, with full financial support
from the National Science and Technology Board (NSTB) and advisory
support from the Economic Development Board (EDB), PAOE has been
upgraded into a research centre within the National University of
Singapore (NUS). Recognising CPEC's key role in spearheading R&D
efforts with the industry and that the projected growth of the chemical
industry would increase from a present annual output of S$31.8 billion
to S$ 40 billion in the near future, CPEC has been given in-principle
approval to develop into a Research Institute to better support
these industries. To further facilitate such interactions, it has
been proposed for CPEC to be located on Jurong Island, Singapore's
chemical hub. |
